State Medical Cannabis Overview

Ohio has a dynamic medical cannabis landscape. Medical cannabis was legalized in 2016 through House Bill 523, allowing people with certain medical conditions to purchase and use marijuana under the guidance of certified Ohio-licensed physicians. On November 7, 2023, Ohio voters approved Issue 2, which legalized, regulated, and taxed cannabis for adults 21 and older, marking a significant shift towards an expansive cannabis policy.
